WELCOME BACK FIBERGLASS EAMES!

A few weeks back I wrote about the Herman Miller vs. Modernica dilemma. Well, guess who is making the Eames molded chairs in fiberglass again...that's right! Herman Miller. And guess who is thrilled about that? ME!! Herman Miller figured out a sustainable way to make fiberglass and describes the process below:
The fiberglass is now formed and processed using a woven, “dry binder” method instead of the traditional “wet” process, eliminating wet glue adhesives and instead relying on a heat-activated, dry polyester. This has also eliminated the need for thermal oxidizers and other environmental control equipment in the production process. Combined with a new “monomer-free” resin, the production process for the new fiberglass chairs is emission-free and creates a safer environment for the workers handling it, as well as a greener, recyclable shell at the end of the chair’s useful life.

On top of that, they are also reintroducing nine vintage color options. After calling two Herman Miller resellers we found out that they are shooting to release these chairs around November 25, in time for the Herman Miller 2013 Holiday Sale. The next step is to see the product in person. I hope it won't disappoint *crossing my fingers.*
