THE LEATHER JACKET
Freja Beha |
FALL. It's that time of the year to take out that leather jacket out of the closet and start using it to death again. As for me, I haven't been fortunate enough to come across my version of "the leather jacket" yet (without breaking the bank), but I have a feeling that I'm getting closer to finding one. Here are the categories I look for in a leather jacket:
1. Fit: tailored fit, especially in the shoulders and along the arms as well as where it falls on the hips.
2. Minimal design: no unnecessary zippers, pockets, embellishments. A classic, edgy look without looking trendy. A good jacket will cost you some dinero, so love the design. The idea is for it to be part of your wardrobe staple for quite some time.

Ashley Olsen in Rick Owens |
3. Versatility: has to work with everything - jeans, jumpsuits, skirts, dresses, white tees, heels, flats, sneakers. Thin enough to layer under another jacket when needed, thick enough to keep me warm.
4. Material: you'll know when you touch one. The leather should break and soften with use.

5. Color: sticking with the classics. Black is always best, but there are light colored jackets out there that are equally gorgeous.
